Job Description

Provides day-to-day staff, logistical, and administrative assistance to a medical clinic, hospital unit, or clinical trials program. Triages patients and schedules appointments; screens and refers phone calls, and communicates and interacts with patients; provides clerical, word processing, and staff support to the unit, and assists with clinical and/or laboratory procedures as required.

Clinical assistants are responsible for assisting clinical professionals with day-to-day clinical tasks in their organization. They are in charge of completing administrative activities, as well as more complex clinical duties. Their main functions include coordinating front desk responsibilities and maintaining proper documentation, as well as keeping accurate supplies and inventory records and ordering new items as needed. They also complete routine clinical duties such as drawing blood and taking temperatures, as well as complete training programs to increase their productivity and assist with other clinical tasks.



Qualifications

Education:
Required:  High School Diploma or equivalent
Preferred:  Vocational program/Phlebotomy Program/Medical Assistant Program
 
Experience:
Preferred:  Minimum of 1 year working experience in a  Laboratory as a Phlebotomist; working knowledge of patient billing/registration process
 
Licenses/Certificates:
Required: Current BLS (Basic Life Support) certification within 90 days from date of hire.
Required:  DOT drug screen certification from Driving Safety Services ( or within 90 days of hire)
Required:  DOT Breath Alcohol Certification from CMI (or within 90 days of hire)
Required: Medical Assistant Certification; if not certified upon hire, must obtain certification within 90 days
