Job Description

Operate communications systems, such as telephone, switchboard, intercom, two-way radio, or public address.  Answer all incoming calls, greeting callers, providing information, and/or transferring calls.  Place telephone calls or arrange outside lines.  Route emergency calls appropriately, contact security staff members when necessary, using two-way radio.  Keep accurate logs of calls placed to physicians.  Perform clerical duties.  Monitor alarm systems in order to ensure that secure conditions are maintained


High school graduate or equivalent


Hospital or similar medical facility experience.  Must be able to follow directions and to perform work according to department standards when no directions are given.  Must be emotionally mature and able to function effectively under stress.  Computer literate with spreadsheet and word processing applications.  Organized, efficient and detail oriented.  The ability to use Windows-based system, fax, copier, and multi-line, multi-function phone.
